"My uncle says there used to be front porches. And people sat there sometimes at night, talking when they wanted to talk, rocking, and not talking when they didn't want to talk. Sometimes they just sat there and thought about things, turned things over. My uncle says the architects got rid of the front porches because they didn't look well. But my uncle says that was merely rationalizing it; the real reason, hidden underneath, might be they didn't want people sitting like that, doing nothing, rocking, talking; that was the wrong KIND of social life. People talked too much. And they had time to think. So they ran off with the porches."

-Ray Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451)

Why does the Front Porch Philosophy Podcast exist?

Because, why not? Seriously though. We would be having these conversations anyway. At a certain point, however, we thought that others might be interested in listening in. The topics we discuss mostly cover areas that we find interesting: Philosophy, Religion, Science, History, and Politics. Since these are topics of interest for many people, we thought others might enjoy hearing new or different perspectives.

We all met while we were students at Emory University and have remained close friends ever since. Even though we live far away from each other now, we try to speak to one another on a regular basis. So, this is ultimately an excuse for us to hang out.

Why should you care what we think?

We’re not necessarily suggesting you should. The conversations we have here are informal and the views expressed may be subject to change under further reflection. We’re mostly just talking through ideas.

Where can I listen to you guys?

You can currently find our Podcast on Podbean, iTunes, and Google Play.
